Invited Speaker at International Seminar on Education in Asia

Randi, was honored as an invited speaker at the International Seminar on Education in Asia, hosted by the Indonesian Universities Consortium on Social-Religious Studies (IUCSRS). This prestigious event brings together a consortium of Islamic universities from the eastern part of Indonesia to discuss and promote advancements in education. The seminar aims to foster collaboration and share best practices among educational institutions across Asia

On Friday, April 14, 2023, Randi delivered an insightful and highly anticipated speech during the Short Course on Academic Journal Writing at the International Seminar on Education in Asia. The session, titled “Menulis Artikel Jurnal Berwawasan Global” (“Writing Globally Minded Journal Articles”), provided attendees with an in-depth understanding of the structure of academic articles and the development of strong academic arguments.

Randi’s presentation covered several key aspects of academic writing, including:

  • Article Structure: Detailed breakdown of the essential components of an academic journal article, such as the introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion.
  • Argumentation Models: Explanation of various models of argumentation, including Toulmin’s Model of Argument, Rogerian Argument, and the Classical (Aristotelian) Argument. He demonstrated how these models can be effectively used to construct compelling and persuasive academic arguments.
  • Writing Strategies: Practical tips and strategies for writing clearly and concisely, ensuring that the research is presented in a logical and coherent manner.
  • Global Perspective: Emphasis on the importance of adopting a global perspective in academic writing, which involves considering diverse viewpoints and ensuring the research is relevant and accessible to an international audience.

The interactive session allowed participants to ask questions and engage in discussions, providing them with practical knowledge and tools to enhance their academic writing skills.
